10,000 Hours Show of Eastern Iowa

The 10,000 Hours Show of Eastern Iowa is a great non-profit student group that engages young people in their communities and celebrates each year with a free rock concert just for people who voluteer at least 10 hours for local non-profit organizations.

A New Look & Information Architecture

When 10K first approached us, it was clear that they were looking for a new professional look for their website. Their site at the time was design by student volunteers. It wasn't a bad design, but it didn't offer the professional design that 10K wanted its visitors to experience.

In addition to a new design, it was clear that 10K was also looking to reorganize their content. Over the years, content had been added as needed and as a result information was spread out through the entire site with no clear hierarchy. This made pertinent information hard to find.

We worked with 10K to organize their content into 4 main categories with clear sub-navigation, making relevant information easy to find. Visitors to the site know exactly where they are and where they can go within the site.

But What About The Fun Stuff?

Good information architecture and quality graphic design will always key to quality web design, but there is no reason to stop there.

The Slider Widget on 10K’s homepage, allows us to pack a lot of information into a small space. The layout of the homepage remains compact and visitors can quickly access information that is important. The best part is that 10K can put anything they want into each tab – text, pictures, and even YouTube videos.

The Final Result

The 10,000 Hours Show was a great project for us to work on. We had the opportunity to create a fun, yet functional, website with some really great interactive features.
